The chief, assistant chief or the officer in charge may direct the members of the department of fire/rescue and emergency services to tear down and remove any building, structure or fence for the purpose of checking the progress of any fire and, in case of the need, may blow up or cause to be blown up, with powder or otherwise, any building or erection, during the process of a fire, for the purpose of extinguishing, checking or making safe the same.
