2-13-2: MEMBERS; APPOINTMENT, TERM, REMOVAL:
   (A)   Departments; Appointments: The fire chief shall be appointed by the village manager, shall serve at the pleasure of the village manager and be subject to removal at any time by the village manager.
   (B)   Term; Removal: The fire chief shall appoint all other officers and members of the department to serve indefinite terms subject to their full compliance with the rules and regulations of the department and their ability to perform the duties required of members, as determined by the fire chief. Such officers shall be selected from the membership of the department by competitive examination, as provided in the rules and regulations of the department. The chief shall have power to suspend or remove any officer or member of the department.
   (C)   Basic Training: No person shall be appointed to permanent membership with the department who has not first, during his or her probationary period from the date of initial employment, satisfactorily completed a course of basic fire training (firefighter II program) established by the office of the state fire marshal pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois fire protection training act, and a course of emergency medical technician training established by the state department of public health pursuant to the emergency medical services (EMS) systems act, and received and filed a certificate of such training completion with the fire chief. The probationary period for completion and certification of such training courses shall be two (2) years.
   (D)   Arson Investigator: Any arson investigator employed by the village is hereby designated as a peace officer pursuant to the Peace Officer Fire Investigation Act (20 ILCS 2910/0.01 et seq.), and may carry weapons as may be necessary, subject to compliance with the trainings and qualifications set forth therein.
