§ 53.02 METERS AND METERING EQUIPMENT.
   (A)   At the most advantageous point for the Utility, the Water Department shall furnish, install, and maintain on or inside the customer's property line, metering equipment, meter boxes, valves, lids, rings, saddles, and the like, and the water line lateral from the meter box to the water main.
   (B)   Metering equipment, meter boxes, valves, lids, rings, saddles, and the like, used to supply water and to meter water at the customer's property remain the property of the City Municipal Water Department and therefore, cannot be altered or tampered with in any way or manner.
   (C)   The customer shall furnish and maintain the water line lateral from the meter box to its destination.
   (D)   Applicability. This section applies to service inside the corporation limits of the city. Outside the corporation limits (outside or inside the corporation limits is determined by the customer's property where the service is required), the customer shall furnish everything to the main except the metering equipment. The metering equipment will remain the property of the City Water Department. Therefore, this equipment cannot be altered or tampered with in any manner. In the event of a water leak, the Utility Water Department shall repair the line. Outside the corporation limits, from the main to the meter tile, the material cost shall be paid by the property owner.
