§ 34.07 TUBERCULOSIS TESTING FOR SCHOOL EMPLOYEES.
It shall be unlawful for school authorities to employ administrative personnel, clerical personnel, teachers, janitors, maintenance personnel, bus drivers or food handlers who have tuberculosis or syphilis in an infectious stage. This shall include temporary administrative personnel, clerical personnel, bus drivers and food handlers. Every Board of Education and School Trustee shall require an annual physical examination for tuberculosis, including adequate laboratory tests and diagnostic x-rays of all such employees of the Board of School Trustees. This examination shall be made prior to employment of new personnel, permanent or temporary, paid or unpaid, and annually, thereafter, prior to the beginning of the school year. Such examination, tests and x-rays shall be made by family physicians holding an unlimited license to practice medicine or the County Health Department. The physician shall submit a report indicating negative reaction to an intradermal skin test for tuberculosis in lieu of the above stated x-ray report. If an employee so tested shall have a negative reaction, then the intradermal skin test shall be repeated each year so long as the employee remains negative. If an employee so tested shall have a positive reaction to such test, then a diagnostic x-ray and laboratory tests shall be taken to determine whether or not the disease is in an infectious state. If the disease is not in an infectious state, the employee shall be eligible for service, but such employee shall then annually thereafter submit to a diagnostic x-ray and laboratory test to determine his or her continued eligibility for such employment.
