8-2-34: METERED SERVICE:
Whenever the council shall deem it appropriate and in the best interests of the City and its citizens to require a user to have the sewer and/or water service to his facilities metered to more appropriately determine the amount of service provided such user by the system, the council may by resolution require said user to install a meter and/or meters which will accurately measure the service provided; and the council may further establish by resolution the rate to be charged for such service as will properly pay the fair share of the services provided such user. The cost of the meter and its installation shall be borne by the user.
For calculating metered EDU services the months of December, January, and February's water usage will be used, and the average water use will be applied to the following formula:
Provided that each person uses 100 gallons per day and an average of 3.2 people per home uses 320 gallons of water per day.
320 gallons of water per day times 30 days equals 9,600 gallons per month. 9,600 gallons per month equals 1 EDU of sewer use. (Ord. 543, 5-5-2009; amd. Ord. 2021-621, 9-2-2021)
