1511.02 TAMPERING WITH FIRE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT.
   (a)    No person or entity shall tamper with, cause damage to, or interfere with the effectiveness of any fire alarm box or attachments to any fire alarm system or any smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, emergency light or units, exit light unit, sprinkler system, standpipe, fire suppression system, fire hydrant, or any other public emergency safety equipment. The titled owner or, in the event the premises is leased, the tenant of record shall be shall be responsible for any equipment set forth in this section which is found to be tampered with within any dwelling unit.
   (b)    Notwithstanding the penalties set forth in Section 1511.99 , any person found to have violated this section by damaging, tampering with, disconnecting, or otherwise altering a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector shall be required to purchase and install an approved tamper resistant smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector guard. Any person found to have damaged, tampered with, disconnected, or otherwise altered the smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector after the installation of an approved tamper resistant smoke detector or carbon monoxide guard shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.
