(a) Operating kettles shall not be located inside of or on the roof of any building.
(b) The kettle shall be operated in a controlled area, identified by the use of barricades, cones, or other barrier markings.
(c) Each operating kettle shall be attended by a minimum of one person knowledgeable in the operation of said kettle, as well as the hazards associated with it. The attendant shall be within twenty five feet of the kettle and have the kettle in sight at all times.
(d) Two approved fire extinguishers with a minimum U.L. rating of 60BC shall be provided and maintained no closer than ten feet, but no more than thirty feet of each operating kettle. Fire extinguishers shall be located and marked in a manner to be accessible and visible at all times.
(e) Two separate and remote means of roof access/egress shall be provided at all locations where an operating tar kettle is located.
(f) Roofing kettles shall not block exits, means of egress, gates, roadways, fire lanes, or entrances. In no case shall an operating kettle be located closer than twenty feet from an exit or means of egress.
