§ 30.01  BIENNIAL ELECTION OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS; STAGGERED TERMS.
   (A)   Authority. This section is adopted pursuant to VA Code § 24.2-219.
   (B)   Title. The ordinance codified herein is titled “An Ordinance to Provide That the Richmond County Board of Supervisors Be Elected Biennially for Staggered Four-year Terms”. The provisions of this section were implemented commencing with the November 6, 2007, general election.
   (C)   Provisions. The five-member County Board of Supervisors shall be elected biennially for staggered four-year terms commencing with the November 6, 2007, general election. During the election, two districts will have terms of two years and three districts will have terms of four years. In all elections thereafter, all successful candidates shall be elected for four-year terms. By this section, the Board of Supervisors directs the County Electoral Board to conduct a drawing to assign individual terms of members by election district (two for two-year terms and three for four-year terms) at a meeting prior to the last day for a person to qualify as a candidate for this election.
