§ 92.26 INSPECTION BY FIRE CHIEF.
   (A)   It is the duty of the Fire Chief of the city to inspect all property within the city as often as practicable or as directed by the City Commission to ascertain and cause to be corrected any condition likely to cause fire loss or to determine the cause or origin of any fire loss or to discover any violation of a law or ordinance relating to fire prevention and protection.
      (1)   The Fire Chief may not inspect the interior of occupied, private dwellings under this section unless and until a fire loss has occurred in such dwelling or when he or she has reason to believe that an unsafe condition exists in the dwelling.
      (2)   The Fire Chief of the city may designate by letter the Fire Marshall of the City as the officer responsible for performing the duties under this section.
   (B)   The Fire Chief shall make a written report of any inspection conducted under this section and shall keep a file on such reports. The reports of investigations of fire losses made by the Fire Department shall not be considered a public document at the discretion of the Fire Chief.
