§ 36.092 RETIREMENT.
   (A)   Voluntary retirement.
      (1)   Any member may, at his option, retire on a service retirement annuity upon or after attainment of the age of 50 years, provided he shall have completed at least 20 years of total service. Upon fulfillment of these terms, it is mandatory that the Board shall grant the retirement annuity upon receipt of the application of said member.
      (2)   Any member who was a member on July 16, 1986 may retire on a service retirement annuity on or before the attainment of age 50 and at that time draws the service retirement annuity provided he shall have completed at least 20 years of total service.
   (B)   Compulsory retirement. Each member shall be subject to compulsory retirement according the rules of the city; provided, however, that any member able to perform his assigned duties shall not be precluded from serving at least 20 years.
