The City Attorney, in cooperation with the city's insurance carrier, defends lawsuits filed against the city in the Kentucky State Court System and defends informal claims against the city. The duties could include analyses and claims, research, preparation of pleadings, depositions, attending hearings, conferences with the court and attorneys, trials, interviewing witnesses, preparing appellate briefs and oral arguments at the appellate level and any other legal work necessary in defending claims and lawsuits against the city.
