SCHEDULE I. SPEED LIMITS.
   (A)   (1)   Pursuant to G.S. §§ 160A-296 and 20-141(f), this division (A) is enacted to provide for the enforcement of speed regulations on streets, roads and highways which are a part of the state highway system within the corporate limits of the town and to provide for the general welfare of the town through the uniform and orderly regulation of its streets and thoroughfares.

      (2)    It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle on a street or highway within the corporate limits of the town which is a part of the state highway system in excess of the following speeds:
         (a)   Forty-five mph: on U.S. 258/N.C. 24 from 0.40 mile south of S.R. 1003 northward to S.R. 1302, a distance of 1.37 miles; and
         (b)   Thirty-five mph:
            1.   On S.R. 1308/Franck Street from the eastern corporate limit to the intersection of S.R. 1308/Franck Street with U.S. 258/N.C. 24;
            2.   On S.R. 1301/Rand Road from the northern corporate limits to the intersection of S.R. 1301/Rand Road with U.S. 258/N.C. 24; and
            3.   On SR 1238 starting at the intersection of Koonce Fork Road (SR 1238) and NC 24 for a length of approximately 408.1 feet (.007 miles) west.

      (3)   Violation of this division (A) shall be punishable as set out in G.S. Ch. 20, as amended.

   (B)   (1)   Purpose. Pursuant to G.S. § 160A-296, this division (B) is enacted to provide for the enforcement of speed regulations on streets, roads and highways which are a part of the town street system within the corporate limits of the town, and to provide for the general welfare of the town through the uniform and orderly regulation of its streets and thoroughfares.

      (2)   Posted speed for town streets. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle on a street or highway within the corporate limits of the town which is a part of the town-maintained street system in excess of 25 mph unless otherwise posted.

      (3)   Posted speed for certain town streets. As determined by the Town Board of Aldermen, the posted speed limit for certain town streets are as follows:
         (a)   Brookhaven Drive, East Foy Street, East Point Street, Dreadnaught Street, Hancock Street and Woodson Street: 20 mph; and
         (b)   Berlin Court, Brooksdale Drive, Dillard Lane and Gabson Court: 15 mph.
