(a) When access to or within a structure or area is unduly difficult because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the Fire Chief may require that a key box be installed in an accessible location. The key box shall be of a type approved by the Fire Chief and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required.
(b) The key box shall be installed in all newly constructed buildings immediately after the adoption of this section, and shall be installed not later than ninety (90) days, in all existing locations governed thereby within the City. The Fire Chief shall cause appropriate notice to be given to the owners of existing buildings.
