901.05 BACKFILLING.
   (a)   The City Engineer shall inspect the excavation before the backfilling is begun.
   (b)   The following materials are required for backfilling.
      (1)   Unpaved roads shall be ODOT Item 304 Aggregate Base tamped every six to eight inches and filled within eighteen inches of the surface. The last eighteen inches shall be of No. 8 limestone with a top dressing of ODOT Item 409 Seal Coat with No. 6 crushed limestone on the surface or as otherwise required by the Engineer.
      (2)   Paved roads shall be backfilled with ODOT Item 304 Aggregate Base within twelve inches of the surface and tamped every six to eight inches. The last twelve inches shall be nine inches of ODOT Item 451 Reinforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, with five-eighths (5/8) inch steel tie rods tied horizontally into the solid base of the road, and the final three inches shall be two inches of ODOT Item 402 Asphalt Concrete and one inch of ODOT Item 404 Asphalt Concrete as per sketch submitted by the City Engineer, which details that there shall be a twelve inch shelf around the excavations or as otherwise required by the Engineer.
      (3)   Ditches and tree lawns shall be replaced in the same condition as they were before the construction activity, in a workmanlike manner, as nearly as it is practical to do so or as otherwise required by the Engineer.
