(a) Membership, Selection, Term of Office and Vacancies. The Recreation Commission shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the Council for a term of three years commencing: For the first appointment two members shall be appointed for a one-year term, two members for a two-year term, and three members for a three-year term. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment for unexpired terms, in the same manner as the original appointment. The members shall serve without compensation.
(b) Qualifications. A member appointed in accordance with subsection (a) hereof shall have been a resident of the City for at least two years prior to the day of his or her appointment, shall be a qualified and registered elector of the City on such day and throughout his or her tenure of office and shall have evidenced interest in the development of recreation services for public use.
(c) Ex-Officio Members. The City Manager of the City of Reed City, one or more City Councilmembers and the Superintendent of Schools of the Reed City Area Public School District shall be ex-officio members of the Commission and shall serve the Commission in an advisory capacity.
