1482.02 INSTALLATION AND USE OF HEATING FACILITIES.
   (a)   No owner or occupant shall install, operate or use a heating device, including hot water heating units, which employs the combustion of carbonaceous fuel, which is not vented to the outside of the structure in an approved manner, and which is not supplied with sufficient air to continuously support the combustion of the fuel. All heating devices shall be constructed, installed and operated in such a manner as to minimize accidental burns.
   (b)   Heat ducts, steam pipes and hot water pipes in supplied central heating systems are to be free of leaks.
   (c)   Seals between sections of hot-air furnaces which are integral parts of central heating systems are to be tight enough to prevent the escape of noxious gases through the heat ducts.
   (d)   Portable space heaters, if used, must be UL approved and operate per the manufacturer's specifications.
   (e)   Space heaters which operate by a combustion process shall be properly vented to a chimney or duct leading to the outdoors.
   (f)   Coal or wood-burning space heaters shall have a fire-resistant panel beneath them.
   (g)   Space heaters located within two feet of a wall shall be adequately insulated to prevent overheating of the wall per the manufacturer's specifications.
   (h)   Space heaters with smoke pipes shall be equipped with guards, made of a non-flammable material at the point where the pipe goes through a wall, ceiling or partition.
