(a) No person shall discharge into the open air the exhaust of any engine, or internal combustion engine, except through a muffler or other device which effectively prevents loud or explosive noises therefrom.
(b) Subject to the provisions of Section 626.15, whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalty provided in Section 698.02.
