(a) The Fire Chief shall receive a uniform allowance for the purchase of essential, special clothing worn while on duty, up to the sum of seven hundred dollars ($700.00) per year. Part-time firefighters shall receive two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per year in clothing and equipment/dry cleaning reimbursement.
(b) An employee entering on duty shall receive the first year allowance for his or her first year of service, and the following year authorization shall be on a pro-rata basis.
(c) Effective January 1, 1987, upon authorization of the Safety Director, such things as turn-out gear (e.g. helmets, boots, raincoats and EMT equipment) will be chargeable to the City. All items are to remain the property of the City upon termination of the employee. Such articles shall be requisitioned as needed only upon the written authorization of the Fire Chief and the Mayor.
