§ 157.020 INTERPRETATION OF CERTAIN WORDS AND TERMS.
   In the construction of this chapter, the following rules shall be observed unless the construction would be inconsistent with the manifest intent of the regulations:
   (A)   Words used in the present tense include the future tense.
   (B)   Words used in the singular number include the plural, and words used in the plural number include the singular.
   (C)   The word “person” includes a firm, association, organization, partnership, corporation, trust and company as well as an individual.
   (D)   The word “lot” includes the word “plot” or “parcel.”
   (E)   The word “building” includes the word “structure.”
   (F)   The word “shall” is always mandatory and not directory.
   (G)   The words “used” or “occupied” as applied to any land or buildings shall be constructed to include the words “intended,” “arranged,” or “designed to be used or occupied.”
