For the purpose of this chapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
TAXICAB. Every automobile or motor vehicle transporting passengers for hire upon any public street of the city not over a regular or defined route, regardless of whether or not the transportation extends beyond the corporate limits of the city.
