The legislature of the state of Idaho in Idaho Code 46-1020 through 46-1024, authorized local government units to adopt a floodplain map and floodplain management ordinance that identifies floodplains and that sets forth minimum development requirements in floodplains that are designed to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of its citizenry.
