5-3-2: WEAPONS; FIREARMS:
   A.   Definition: "Firearms" as set forth in this section means any instrument used in the propulsion of shot, shell or bullets, or other harmful objects or projectiles, by the action of gunpowder exploded within it, or by the action of compressed air within it, or by the power of springs and including what are commonly known as air rifles and BB guns.
   B.   Discharge Prohibited: It is unlawful for any person to discharge, within the city limits of the city, any firearms, slingshots, zip guns, flips or bows and arrows.
   C.   Penalty: Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction therefor, shall be subject to the penalty provisions as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code.
   D.   Exceptions:
      1.   This prohibition shall not apply to law enforcement officers in the discharge of their duties, including discharge for training purposes.
      2.   Military honor guards performing at funerals or at public events may, with the permission of the chief of police or his designee, discharge firearms using blanks. (Ord. 460, 3-14-2006)
