The duties of the patrol officer include:
(A) To proceed immediately to the place of any riot, disorder, or other grave act which may disturb the peace in the town, to make arrest as required or as he or she shall deem proper, and to require witnesses to appear at the police station and make their opinion necessary;
(B) To decide promptly any question on the part of his or her subordinates relative to the interpretation of the regulations or orders, and in the face of any sudden emergency to prescribe the immediate action to be taken; and
(C) To remain within the town limits while on duty and until relieved by proper order, except in case of urgent necessity and when the delay necessary to obtain permission would be detrimental to the public service, such as when assisting the pursuit of a person charged with a serious crime.
