§ 31.17 CODE OFFICIAL AND BUILDING INSPECTOR.
   (A)   Positions created. There is hereby created the positions of Code Official and Building Inspector. The Code Official is charged with the administration and enforcement of the International Property Maintenance Code. The Building Inspector is charged with the duty of enforcing all city building and housing regulations and ordinances of the city and those other duties set forth in §§ 150.35 through 150.41. The person to be initially appointed by this section as Code Official and Building Inspector (collectively, “Officer”) shall be the City Administrator and/or the Public Works Supervisor of the city.
   (B)   Duties.
      (1)   The duties of the Officer shall be to enforce the city ordinances and regulations relating to:
         (a)   The conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings, and structures;
         (b)   The standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary, and fit for occupation and use; and
         (c)   The demolition of existing structures in the city.
      (2)   The duties of the Officer are more specifically provided in §§ 150.35 through 150.41 of this code.
   (C)   Appointment. The Officer hereby created shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council.
   (D)   Term. The term of office for the Officer hereby created shall be for one year, unless sooner removed.
   (E)   Supervision. The Officer shall serve under the direct supervision of the City Administrator.
