A code enforcement officer shall have the following powers and duties:
(A) Receive and respond to citizen complaints and reports on alleged violations of municipal ordinances and provide recommendations for resolution;
(B) Conduct field investigations; inspect properties for violations; attempt to make contact at the residence or business in order to resolve violations; issue and post warning notices, notices of violations, corrective notices, orders to comply, and related documentation for village ordinance violations; schedule and perform all follow-up functions to gain compliance including letters, inspections, calls, meetings, discussions, and negotiations to ensure compliance with appropriate ordinances; issue administrative and parking citations as necessary;
(C) Patrol assigned area to identify and evaluate problem areas and/or ordinance violations, and determine proper method to resolve violations;
(D) Observe and report all street lights and street signs in need of repair and inspect and recommend new traffic signs where needed;
(E) Be a liaison between the village and the citizens of Ramsey.
