§ 91.03 DOG OR ANIMAL BITES.
   (A)   Whenever any dog or any animal bites a human being, the Village Clerk will be notified immediately by either the owner of the animal or the victim of the bite. In said case, if the victim of the animal bite is a minor child, the said parent and/or guardian is to notify the Village Clerk.
   (B)   The Village Clerk will then order said animal to be observed by licensed veterinarian for a period of ten days. The licensed veterinarian will also notify the Animal Control Office of the county. The Animal Control Officer will attempt to secure from the owner of said animal, documentation that said animal has had its rabies inoculation. In the event that the Animal Control Officer is unable to perform this task, the Village Clerk will obtain said information. This information must be obtained within 24 hours following the animal bite. The licensed vet will report the clinical condition of said animal within 24 hours after presentation. The licensed vet will also notify the attending physician and responsible health agency. When it is determined that said animal is free of any disease, said animal will be returned to owner immediately. The owner of said animal will be responsible for all costs incurred to board/confine said animal and any tests administered to said animal. Should said animal have to be euthanized, the owner shall be responsible for this cost also. Should said owner not claim his or her animal within 72 hours after notification to do so, said owner shall forfeit all rights to the animal and the animal can be opted out.
