The owner, agent or occupant or person charged with the custody of any public building, auditorium, hotel, theater, lodge hall or church and in the case of schools, the Superintendent of public schools, the person in charge of any parochial school and the owner of any private school shall be held liable for the installation and maintenance of equipment and apparatus as is required in this subchapter and for the safety of all exits, stairs, doors, windows or passageways.
