For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates, or requires, a different meaning.
COUNTY HIGHWAY ENGINEER. The County Engineer/Superintendent.
PAVEMENT. Any hard surface treatment on the road, such as chip and seal, asphalt, or concrete.
RIGHT-OF-WAY. The land under the driving surface and beyond the edges of the driving surface that the public has the right to use, and the County Board of Commissioners has the right to control.
ROAD. The driving surface, and refers to any type of surface such as asphalt, concrete, or gravel.
WORK. Any activity such as, but not limited to, excavating, cutting, digging, tearing, boring, installing, filling, and placing.
