§ 32.015  CORPORATE LIMITS; JUDGE.
   (A)   The Municipal Court may try and determine criminal cases involving violations occurring within the town limits when the penalty prescribed for the violation does not exceed 30 days imprisonment nor $200 fine and may have trial jurisdiction over the criminal cases the same as Judges.
   (B)   (1)   Where the punishment prescribed for a misdemeanor is “at the discretion of the court” under the provisions of a state statute, a Judge’s court lacks the jurisdiction to hear or pass judgement on the statutory offense although the prescribed penalty falls within the standard jurisdiction limits prescribed for a Judge’s court by this section.
      (2)   The same applies to any  offence for which  the prescribed penalty is a fine not exceeding $200 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 30 days or both.
