§ 72.01  GENERAL RESTRICTIONS; PENALTIES; REPORTS AND NOTICES.
   (A)   No person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a law enforcement police officer or traffic-control sign, marking, or device, in any of the following places:
      (1)   On a sidewalk. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (2)   In front of a public or private driveway, or so near thereto as to block or interfere with the unobstructed use of the driveway or access to public or private property, or to create an obstructed the view for of vehicle operators utilizing the driveway. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence at owner's expense.
      (3)   Within an intersection. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (4)   On a cross walk. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (5)   Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise designated by marked parking space. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (6)   Within 50 feet of the nearest railroad track or a railroad crossing, except as otherwise designated by marked parking space. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (7)   Within 15 feet of any fire hydrant or within a designated "fire lane." The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $100 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (8)   At any place where traffic control devices, markings, or official signs prohibit stopping, standing or parking, nor in excess of the time allotted by signage. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence and subject to tow at owner's expense.
      (9)   Alongside, or on the side of, any street or road in a manner such that the vehicle is facing in the opposite direction of the flow of traffic. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $25 per occurrence.
   (B)   It shall be a violation for any person to park any vehicle in a marked parking space located in downtown prosperity or any designated parking spaces alongside any public street or road within the town limits for a period of more than 2 hours, with the exception of spaces specifically designated for handicapped persons parking, and spaces designated by posted signage for a different time limit. The penalty for violation of the 2 hour restriction, or violation of any other time limitation restriction, shall be $25 per occurrence. Additionally, at any downtown prosperity parking locations, any vehicle left parked for more than 24 hours may be towed at owner's expense.
   (C)   It shall be a violation for any person to park an unauthorized vehicle in a space designated for handicapped persons parking space. The penalty for violation of this restriction shall be $500 per occurrence.
   (D)   Each violation of this section shall constitute a separate offense.
   (E)   Officers of the law shall have the right to remove vehicles by means of towing which violate this section. Such vehicle shall not be released until all outstanding parking violations and fines have been paid to the town.
   (F)   The provisions contained within this section do not apply to law enforcement, fire or emergency vehicles.
   (G)   The provisions contained within do not apply to vehicles utilized for non-profit activities. This exemption does not apply to personally owned vehicles regardless of the intended use.
