7-1-5: AWNINGS:
   A.   Restrictions: It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, build or construct any awning over, upon or across the sidewalk in, upon and along Main Street in the city that shall rest, in whole or in part, upon the sidewalk or in the street in front of or outside of the sidewalk, nor shall any awning or any material attached or fastened thereto extend down to within six and one-half feet (6-1/2') of the surface of the sidewalk in front of the building to which the awning is attached. Awnings shall be constructed of cloth, iron, steel or other metal, but not wood or other material. However wooden rollers or rods may be used in connection with cloth awnings, and metal roofs or awnings may rest upon wooden stringers.
   B.   Removal: All awnings that have been erected, built or constructed in, upon or over the sidewalk, or in, upon or over Main Street in the city, and resting in whole or in part upon the sidewalk or in the street in front of or outside of the sidewalk, or are awnings as are prohibited to be constructed in subsection A of this section shall be removed within 30 days of notice from the city that the awning is in violation of this section of the code. Should the awning not be removed within the 30 days of the notice, the city may remove such awning and may bill the owner for the cost of said removal. The city shall have all remedies at law available to it to collect said costs and fines.
