A. Materials And Specifications: All sidewalks hereafter constructed within the city upon any street or alley or any part thereof, shall be constructed of cement concrete unless the city council shall provide otherwise. In order to construct or repair a sidewalk within the corporate limits of the city, one must apply for and receive a permit to build or repair within the city’s right of way. Sidewalks must be constructed or repaired according to the specifications approved in the right of way permit.
B. Special Ordinance Required: The city may require a lot, block, tract or parcel owner to construct or repair a sidewalk that touches the line of the sidewalk by special ordinance pursuant to the requirements set forth in 65 ILCS 5/11-84 et al. The city may levy a tax against that lot, block, tract or parcel owner in order to pay for any part or all of the construction or repair of a required sidewalk pursuant to the requirements set forth in 65 ILCS 5/11-84 et al.
C. All of the contracts shall be approved by the mayor, or in the case the board of local improvements shall have the supervision of the construction of any sidewalks, then such contract shall be approved by the president of the board.
