The primary purpose of this chapter shall be to maintain compliance with the standardized codes adopted to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. For that purpose, the building official may seek to use any of the following remedies as may be appropriate to ensure enforcement of the provisions of this chapter: (Ord. 468, 2004)
A. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter, or of the standardized codes adopted pursuant to this chapter, is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined as provided in the general penalty in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 468, 2004; amd. 2005 Code)
B. A separate violation is deemed to have occurred with respect to each building or structure not in compliance with the codes adopted herein, and for each day such violation continues.
C. The city may seek civil remedy from a court of competent jurisdiction to restrain conduct in violation of this chapter or compel performance of duties established by this chapter. Civil remedies may be sought in addition to criminal penalties. (Ord. 468, 2004)
