A. Appointment: The mayor shall, with the approval of the city council, appoint a public works employee as the city public works inspector.
B. Powers And Duties: The city public works inspector shall, under the direction of the mayor and city council, ensure compliance of all public works projects with all applicable codes, laws, standards and ordinances and shall keep accurate records and maps of all public works construction, and shall periodically review all applicable standards and ordinances to ensure compliance with federal and state statutes. Under the direction of the mayor and city council, the public works inspector shall have the power to take any legal actions necessary, up to and including stopping works in progress, to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, laws, standards and ordinances.
