6-1-3: REDUCTION OF STATE IMPOSED SPEED LIMITS:
The City hereby enacts the provisions of Idaho Code 49-201(4) which grants authority to duly elected officials of an incorporated city acting in their capacity of a local authority, to establish lower speed limits for portions of State highways, excluding controlled access and interstate highways, that pass through residential, urban or business districts within the jurisdiction of the incorporated city, for the purpose of enhancing motorist and pedestrian safety. A reduction in speed limit on all State highways passing through the City to thirty five (35) miles per hour is mandated as follows:
Beginning at all boundaries of the incorporated City accessed by State highways, providing for a set speed limit within the City limits on all State highways, unless otherwise posted, subject to current restrictions imposed by local authority for such periods as may be necessary for public safety.
