Parking meters installed in parking meter zones shall be installed upon the curb immediately adjacent to the individual parking spaces described in this chapter, and each parking meter shall be so constructed and adjusted as to show, when properly operated, a signal that the space adjacent to which it is installed is or is not legally in use.
