After the costs of removing, storing, advertising and selling a motor vehicle pursuant to this chapter are deducted, the balance of the sale price shall be held for the owner of the motor vehicle for a period
of three months from the date of sale. If the funds are not claimed at the expiration of that time, the proceeds shall be deposited to the general fund of the city.
