137.02 DUTIES GENERALLY; MAINTENANCE UNDER CIVIL SERVICE.

The Police Department shall preserve the peace, protect persons and property and obey and enforce all ordinances and all criminal laws of the State and of the United States. It shall perform such other duties as Council by ordinance prescribes. The Police Department shall be maintained under the civil service system.
