Materials used in the construction of building sewers shall be first class, free from defects, with a minimum diameter of five inches. The following materials are approved by the Department of Engineering for building sewers.
(a) Salt-glazed vitrified clay pipe.
(b) Ceramic-glazed vitrified clay pipe.
(c) Cast-iron soil pipe.
(d) Unglazed vitrified clay tile.
(e) Type PSP (Poly Vinyl Chloride) PVC A.S.T.M. D-3033-74.
(f) Type PSM (Poly Vinyl Chloride) PVC A.S.T.M. D-3034-74.
(g) Type ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) A.S.T.M. D-2751-73.
(h) Type ABX (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) A.S.T.M. D-2680-74.
On vitrified clay pipe only, prefabricated joints, such as Ty-lox, Wedge-lox, Am-Vit or their approved equal shall be used. No mortar joints or slip-seal joints shall be allowed. Joints of cast-iron soil pipe shall be made with oakum and lead.
Curved pipe shall be used in all angles in the building sewer greater than three inches deviation from a straight line in the length of one joint of pipe.
