(A) Upon compliance with all provisions of this chapter, and subject to all provisions, including approval by the City Commission as described in § 116.02(D) of this chapter, the City Secretary shall issue the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner license applied for.
(B) A taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner license issued under this chapter shall be signed by the City Secretary and it shall state the following information:
(1) The year for which the license is issued;
(2) The name of the registered owner of the vehicle (which shall be the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner);
(3) The vehicle license fee for each vehicle owned by the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus company has been paid and the amount thereof;
(4) The amount of the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner license fee paid;
(5) The make, vehicle identification number and current license number of the vehicle or vehicles to be used by the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner;
(6) That the registered owner of the vehicles has deposited with the city a commercial taxicab for hire insurance policy in the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner’s name, which provides insurance coverage for the protection of the passengers thereof and of the general public as provided for in this chapter;
(7) The address of the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner’s taxicab stand; and
(8) The current telephone number of the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus owner at its taxicab stand.
(C) The license issued for the operation of a taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus under the terms of this chapter shall be posted at the right hand front dashboard, above the glove compartment within the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus, and no person shall operate or permit the operation of the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus unless the license is so posted.
(D) No license issued under the terms of this chapter shall be transferred to any other person, nor shall any licensed vehicle be transferred to any other person, nor shall a license be used for the operation of any vehicle for which the license is not issued.
(E) In the event a taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus licensed under this chapter is stolen, sold, wrecked or destroyed, the owner thereof shall have the right to replace the taxicab and upon application to the Inspector of Taxicabs and surrender of the license for the vehicle stolen, sold, wrecked or destroyed, a license for the replacement vehicle shall be issued for the remainder of the license year, without any additional fee, provided the vehicle meets all the requirements of this chapter.
(F) If any owner shall lose a vehicle license issued under this chapter, before further operating or permitting the operation of the taxicab, limousine or shuttle bus covered by the license, the owner will procure a duplicate license from the City Secretary and shall pay for the duplicate license the sum of $25.
(G) Each taxicab, limousine and shuttle bus owner license and taxicab, limousine and shuttle bus vehicle license shall expire on December 31 of each year. Failure to renew the license before January 1 of the following year may, in the discretion of the Inspector of Taxicabs, cause the suspension of owner and vehicle privileges under this chapter.
(H) In the event a taxicab owner enters into an agreement to sell his or her business, he or she shall notify the Inspector of Taxicabs so that the prospective owner will have the opportunity to file an application for licensing and seek approval by the Inspector prior to transfer of the business.
