§ 30.35 ATTENDANCE OF MEMBERS AT MEETINGS.
   In the event that an elected official of the city shall be absent for five consecutive meetings, the City Council, at its next regular meeting, shall hold a hearing to determine whether such absences shall be excused. Notice of such in writing shall be delivered to the absent member at least ten days prior to such hearing, and he or she shall be given the opportunity to present evidence and testimony to support a determination that such absences should be excused. After such hearing, the City Council shall vote to either excuse such absences or to determine that such absences are unexcused and declare the seat vacant. In the event the seat is determined vacant, the vacancy shall be filled pursuant to § 30.34 of this chapter.
