8-1-1: DEFINITIONS:
For the purposes of this title the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them; provided, whenever any words and phrases used herein are not defined in this section but are defined in the laws of the state regulating traffic, any such definition therein shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used herein:
ALLEY: A public passageway or street as herein defined which affords only secondary means of vehicular access to abutting property, and having no legal or official name other than alley.
CENTRAL TRAFFIC DISTRICT: All streets and portions of streets within the area described as follows: all that area that generally includes Chestnut Avenue from First Street to Fifth Street; Cleveland Avenue from Pine Street to Seventh Street; Grand Avenue from Oak Street to Seventh Street; Central Avenue from Pine Street to Seventh Street; Oklahoma Avenue from First Street to Fifth Street; Pine Street from Oklahoma Avenue to Cleveland Avenue; Union Street from Central Avenue to Chestnut Avenue; First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Streets from Oklahoma Avenue to Chestnut Avenue; and Sixth and Seventh Streets from Central Avenue to Cleveland Avenue.
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE: Every vehicle designed, maintained, or used primarily for the transportation of property.
CURB LOADING ZONE: A space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.
FREIGHT CURB LOADING ZONE: A space adjacent to a curb for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of freight.
OFFICIAL TIME STANDARD: Whenever certain hours are named herein they shall mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in the city.
PASSENGER CURB LOADING ZONE: A place adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading and unloading of passengers.
STOP: When required means complete cessation from movement.
TRAFFIC DIVISION: The traffic division of the police department of the city, or in the event a traffic division is not established, then said term whenever used herein shall be deemed to refer to the police department of the city. (1980 Code § 34-1)
