7-3-2-1: DOGS AND CATS; VACCINATION, LICENSE, FEE 1 :
   A.   Vaccination Certificate Required: It shall be the duty of every person owning or having control of any dog or cat which is six (6) months old or older, within the city limits, to procure a vaccination certificate from a graduate veterinarian showing that the vaccination has been made, by whom and the date of vaccination; and it shall be the further duty of every person owning said animal to prevent same from running at large for a period of seven (7) days after said vaccination.
   B.   License Required; Fee:
      1.   Such owners of a dog or cat six (6) months old or older shall obtain a license for said animal either from the animal control center or the veterinarian within five (5) days after said vaccination and pay for the license such sum as established by resolution of the board of commissioners from time to time if the animal has been spayed or neutered, or a higher amount if such animal has not been spayed or neutered, which license shall expire one year following the issuance.
      2.   If the license is issued by a veterinarian, the veterinarian may make a claim for his services, not exceeding one dollar ($1.00) for each license issued by him, at the time he submits funds collected by him to the city clerk; the amount of said claim shall be paid at that time from the funds collected from the licensee by said veterinarian.
   C.   Metal Tag: A metal tag shall be procured from the issuer of said license which shall be attached to the animal and remain attached at all times. (1980 Code § 7-3; amd. 2003 Code; Ord. 6086, 6-9-2008, eff. 6-9-2009)
   D.   New Residents: It shall be unlawful for any nonresident or other person to fail to comply with the provisions of this chapter relative to licensing and vaccination of animals after thirty (30) days of residency. (1980 Code § 7-4; amd. Ord. 6086, 6-9-2008, eff. 6-9-2009)
