270.07   HOLIDAYS FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES.
   (a)   The following holidays shall be considered as paid holidays for full-time employees:
      (1)   New Year's Day
      (2)   Martin Luther King Day
      (3)   Presidents' Day
      (4)   Memorial Day
      (5)    Independence Day
      (6)   Labor Day
      (7)   Columbus Day
      (8)   Veterans Day**
      (9)   Thanksgiving Day
      (10)   Christmas Day
** Veterans' Day is an optional holiday in that this day may only be exchanged for another work day with thirty days advance notification and at the discretion of the department supervisor based upon staffing needs. An optional holiday is to be taken for extended time off and is not subject to a premium holiday payment.
For full-time patrolmen, Easter Sunday will be a paid holiday for those officers scheduled to work on Easter Sunday.
   (b)   If a full-time employee works on a paid holiday that is a regularly scheduled holiday, that employee will be paid the regular rate of pay plus eight hours holiday pay.  Call-in for an early shift of two hours or less that falls on a paid holiday does not make the employee eligible for holiday pay.  Overtime scheduling that necessitates two hours of work at the end of a shift that falls on a paid holiday does not make the employee eligible for holiday pay.  Full-time employees who do not work the holiday shall receive eight hours holiday pay, provided that the employee has worked the last regularly scheduled day prior to the holiday and the first regularly scheduled day after the holiday.  A pre-approved scheduled vacation the day before or the day after a paid holiday will maintain the employee's eligibility for holiday pay.  Changes in State laws regarding changes in paid holidays shall be regarded as applicable to full-time employees of the Village without the necessity of modifying this section to conform to such State law changes.
