270.02   WORK PERIODS; REPORTING TO WORK; CALL-IN PAY.
   (a)   The normal work day shall consist of eight consecutive hours per day.  Starting times for the Police Department will be variable and at the discretion of the Department head and the Police Committee of Council.  A patrolmen's work day shall include a one-half hour paid lunch taken on the job.  Work periods for other departments are as follows:
      (1)   Street Department, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., unless otherwise designated by the Street Commissioner.  Forty hours per week shall constitute a normal work week based on five eight-hour work days and two days off.  Each employee shall have a one-half hour lunch period, without pay.
      (2)   Administrative Department - 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Office open 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Office closed from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a one-half hour unpaid lunch.
   (b)   Full-time employees are expected to be at work prior to the beginning of their regularly scheduled starting time.  In the event that an employee must report off from work, the report shall be given to his or her department supervisor no later than one hour before the scheduled starting time on the day that the employee will be absent (except for Police Department employees governed by the Department Policy Manual).  Full-time employees who are ordered to report to work and who so report shall be paid a minimum of two hours at the appropriate rate of pay.  The employee shall remain and work a full two hours.
