This chapter shall not apply to any lot or lots forming a part of a subdivision in the process of approval for which tentative approval of the preliminary plat has been granted by the township prior to February 15, 1970, provided that the final plat is approved by the Township Board on or before January 1, 1971, except for the further dividing of lots. Nor is it intended by this chapter to repeal, abrogate, annul or in any way impair or interfere with existing provisions of other laws, ordinances or regulations or with private restrictions placed upon property by deed, covenant or other private agreements or with restrictive covenants running with the land to which the township is a party. Where this chapter imposes a greater restriction upon land than is imposed or required by such existing provisions or any other ordinance of this township, the provisions of this chapter shall control.
