§ 90.18  RABIES PREVENTION.
Any person who shall have in his or her possession a dog which has contracted rabies, been exposed to rabies, is suspected of having rabies or which has bitten any person, shall, upon demand of the Police Department surrender the dog to the Police Department or Health Department to be held for observation and treatment as required. It is the duty of every person owning or harboring a dog which has been attacked or bitten by another dog or animal showing the symptoms of rabies to immediately notify the Police Department or Health Department of the incident. Whenever a dog is brought to the pound after biting a person, the Police Department may, if deemed necessary and advisable, have the dog destroyed after holding the dog for a sufficient length of time to meet the requirements of the Health Department for investigation.
