§ 70.99  PENALTY.
   (A)   Municipal civil infraction. Violation of Public Act 119 of 1980, as amended, the Motor Carrier Tax and Permit Trip Act, being M.C.L.A. §§ 270.211 through 270.227, as adopted by reference, shall be a municipal civil infraction as provided under Public Act 236 of 1961, being M.C.L.A. §§ 600.101 et seq., as amended.

   (B)   Motor Vehicle Code. Unless otherwise provided, misdemeanor and civil infraction penalties for violation of the adopted by reference of Public Act 300 of 1949, as amended, being M.C.L.A. §§ 257.1 through 257.923 shall be as provided in Public Act 300 of 1949, as amended.

   (C)   General penalty. Unless otherwise provided, any person, corporation, partnership or any other legal entity who violates the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned for not more than 90 days, or both, at the discretion of the court. However, if a section of this code substantially corresponds to a state law that is a misdemeanor for which the maximum period of imprisonment is 93 days, a person convicted of such section shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500, imprisonment for a period of not more than 93 days, or both. In addition, a person convicted of a violation of this code shall be liable for costs.

   (D)   M.C.L.A. § 257.625(1)(c) violations. As allowed by Public Act 8 of 2012, for a violation of M.C.L.A. § 257.625(1)(c), herein the punishment shall be one or more of the following:
      (1)   Community service of not more than 360 hours;
      (2)   Imprisonment for not more than 180 days; and/or
      (3)   A fine of not less than $200 or more than $700.
