§ 34.10  OVERTIME FOR SALARIED EMPLOYEES; SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS FOR POLICE.
   (A)   Except as otherwise herein provided, salaried employees shall not be compensated for overtime work, except in cases of extraordinary emergency, but in no event unless the number of hours worked per week exceeds 50, and even then, only with the prior approval of the Mayor. Any compensation for overtime work, as herein provided, must be approved by Council. If overtime is worked by a salaried employee under circumstances authorized by this section, it shall be paid at one and one-half times the regular hourly rate for the position or classification held by the employee. A claim for overtime shall be submitted to Council at the next regular meeting of Council following the time overtime is incurred. The applicant for overtime compensation shall itemize the hours worked and justify the need for such overtime compensation.
   (B)   An hourly rate as established from time to time by Council shall apply to all overtime work for the purposes of snow and ice removal.
   (C)   (1)   Officers of the Police Department may be hired by various organizations of the community with approval of the Chief of Police and the Mayor to work special assignments, such as crowd control.
      (2)   The special assignments shall not interfere with performance of employment schedules of the village.
      (3)   Officers working special assignments shall always comply with village department rules and regulations.
      (4)   Officers working special assignments shall be directly hired by and paid by such community organizations desiring their services.
