The Mayor is hereby authorized to demand and receive from the applicant for the license required by § 112.01 such sum as he or she may deem expedient, which shall not be less than $1, nor more than $25, for each and every day or night of such show, performance or exhibition. However, this section shall not apply to or include lectures or exhibitions of an historical, literary or scientific nature, or concerts and entertainments given by, for the benefit of, or under auspices of, any benevolent institution or the public schools or churches of the village, or any concert, entertainment or performance given by a resident of the village.
